What’s the best exercise for fat loss?
We get asked this all the time and the simple answer is, there isn’t one!
The important thing to remember is that to lose fat you need to be in a calorie deficit. This is where you consume less calories than you burn, and is vital in order for you to lose fat.
Physical exertion through exercise and just moving around more during the day will assist you to be in a calorie deficit, along with looking after your calorie intake.
One way of looking at it is that you can lose fat with a calorie deficit and no exercise, but you can’t lose fat with exercise but no calorie deficit. This basically means, if your calories ‘in’ are higher than your calories ‘out’, even when exercise calorie burn is taken in to account, you will not lose fat.
If you want to lose fat you must focus on your nutrition management. Don’t panic about whether a treadmill or leg extension is the best form of exercise.
All exercise has its benefits especially when you are looking at retaining as much muscle mass as you can, looking for body composition changes – and it will compliment your calorie deficit.
